Frequently asked questions
Q. Can I have white borders on all sizes of prints?
A. Yes, borders are possible on large scale prints by using a prepared mask. However, it is necessary torequest this in advance of printing as it must be ordered to size. Costs vary according to size, please ask for a price.
Q. Will I get better prints and duratrans by scanning my negs and printing them digitally?
A. No, in our experience prints and duratrans are more pleasing from the original negatives.
Q. How do I submit files for Giclée/Pigment printing?
A. Size the image to 300dpi and save as in RGB .TIF or
.JPG format.
Q. How do I send files to you for printing?
A. You can send large files by CD/DVD, YouSendIt, share a DropBox folder, or ftp files up to 75mb through th efollowing direct link: http://dropitto.me/mda - please click here to email us for password.
Q. How long will my prints last?
A. Kodak claim that images on their colour paper under normal conditions will last 200 years. As far as we know no other manufacturer has made similar claims. Black and white images are less certain, manufacturers give no guarantees and nor can we. We advise that prints for sale should be treated in Selenium toner which we believe extends their stability and life.
Q. I am not happy with my Lambda prints especially black and white, how can I have more control over what I get?
A. Digital B&W are printed on a colour dye paper. We can write your digital file to negative and print on conventional B&W paper, Duratran is on the same material as digital and produces excellent results. Both can be printed under your direction in our art service.
